Copyright Policy

Mercer University’s Copyright Policy establishes guidelines regarding the use of copyrighted works. Copyrighted works include original works of authorship such as images, graphics, audio, video and novels. Anytime a copyrighted work is used, ensure that the proper permission from the copyright holder has been obtained. In some cases, royalties may need to be paid to the copyright holder in addition to obtaining his or her permission. Failure to obtain proper permission to use a copyrighted work may result in fines against the individual who violates the copyright holder’s exclusive rights. Please refer to the Faculty Handbook, section 3.14.3, and the University’s Copyright Policy. If you have any questions regarding your use of a copyrighted work, contact the Office of the General Counsel for additional guidance.
